Maruti Scans and Labs offers state-of-the-art 1.5T MRI facilities at our Ambattur and Velachery branches, providing detailed imaging for a wide range of medical applications.
What is MRI?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a sophisticated, non-invasive diagnostic technique that uses powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to generate detailed images of organs, tissues, and structures inside the body. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI does not use ionizing radiation, making it a safer choice for many patients.
Who Can Have an MRI?
MRI scans are generally safe for most people, but certain conditions or implants may require special consideration. Please notify us before your appointment if you have any of the following:
A cardiac pacemaker or pacing wires
Metal fragments in your eyes or body
Neurostimulators, cochlear implants, or other implanted metallic devices
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Recent tattoos, including cosmetic tattoos
Medicated or therapeutic patches on your skin (e.g., nicotine patches)
Before your scan, you will be asked to complete a detailed safety screening questionnaire to ensure your safety during the procedure. If any of the above conditions apply, please contact our department for advice ahead of your visit.
Preparation for Your MRI Scan
Upon arrival at our facility, you will be asked to complete a safety questionnaire and remove all metal items such as jewelry, watches, and accessories. You will then change into a comfortable gown provided by our team.
Unless specifically advised otherwise, you may eat and drink normally before your appointment. If fasting is required—for example, for certain abdominal scans—you will receive clear instructions when you schedule your MRI.
It is important to continue taking any prescribed medications as usual, including those for diabetes. If you use pain medication to stay comfortable, please take it before the scan.
What to Expect During the Scan
The procedure might take a duration of anywhere between 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the examination area.
You will lie on a motorized table that slides into the MRI machine.
The procedure is painless, but you may hear tapping or thumping sounds (ear protection provided).
Staying still during the scan is essential for clear images.
Our friendly staff will monitor and assist you throughout.
