Maruti Scans and Labs provides computerised ECG testing at all branches, using
advanced digital technology to capture and interpret heart rhythms efficiently and
accurately.
What is a Computerised ECG?
A computerised electrocardiogram (ECG) is a quick, non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of the heart. Small adhesive electrodes are placed on the chest, arms, and legs, and connected with wires to a digital ECG machine that converts these signals into graphic waveforms displayed on a screen or printed for review. Computerised systems allow for precise, rapid analysis, improving diagnostic reliability and reducing reporting time.
Why is an ECG Done?
Your doctor may request an ECG to:
Detect abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) such as palpitations, skipped beats,
or irregular pulses
Assess the cause of chest pain, dizziness, fainting, or shortness of breath
Diagnose heart attacks or measure damage from previous heart conditions
Monitor heart diseases, medications, or pacemaker function
Screen those with high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of heart disease
Types of ECG Tests
Resting ECG: Standard test performed while lying still to assess baseline heart function
Stress ECG: Performed during exercise (treadmill or bicycle) to see how the heart responds to activity
Ambulatory (Holter) ECG: A small device worn for 24 hours or longer to record heart activity during daily routines
Preparation for Your ECG
No special preparation is needed; eat and take medications as usual unless instructed otherwise
Remove metal jewelry and avoid lotions or powders on the chest area
Wear comfortable, easy-to-remove clothing; you may need to expose your chest for electrode placement
What to Expect During the ECG
You will relax on an examination table while electrodes are attached to your skin
The test itself is painless and takes only a few minutes
You may need to remain still and quiet for accurate readings
After the test, the electrodes are removed, and you can resume normal activities immediately
